Best Buddies
What is Best Buddies?
Best Buddies International is an American nonprofit 501 organization. It consists of volunteers that create opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Best Buddies' mission is to create a global volunteer network that offers opportunities for one-on-one companionship, incorporated employment, leadership, and inclusive living to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Best Buddies is a student-led friendship organization that unites students with and without disabilities in middle schools, high schools, and colleges. Best Buddies contributes to the creation of a welcome school environment for children as well as a welcoming community culture.
My Experience
Since little, I always liked to help everyone, especially those who need it. I had the opportunity to be a part of Best Buddies' Summer Volunteers in 2021. I was overjoyed and delighted to have been chosen. I spent most of my summer working and communicating with Best Buddies members via Zoom. I particularly appreciated the day when we met with kids and adolescents who had disabilities. When the meeting ended, we realized that Carol Morgan should have a Best Buddies club. This year, they have created one, and now we are currently communicating with our buddies one-on-one. Finally, I'm enjoying my time with Best Buddies since I believe it's a wonderful organization that helps children and teenagers with disabilities.
